To agreeWhy it exists
Fewer disputes, no surprise invoices, a record you can both stand behind
Most domestic jobs run on conversations. “We agreed it on site.” Then the final bill doesn't match anyone's memory, and confidence dips. OurContract puts every change in writing — agreed by both sides before any work or money moves.
“But we agreed that on site…”
Changes made by word of mouth, with nothing written down. Scope and cost quietly drift apart as the job goes on.
“Why is the bill so much higher?”
Homeowners face final invoices well above what they expected, with no clear record of what was agreed, or when.
“I can't prove what was authorised.”
Builders do the work in good faith, then struggle to show the client signed off on it. Everyone loses.
A healthy working relationship depends on a clear dialogue and a shared reference. OurContract keeps both sides on the same page — so expectations, costs and changes are never a surprise.
How it works
Three steps to a project you both control
No training, no lengthy setup. Most projects are live within ten minutes.
Set up the project
Add the address, the agreed sum, whether prices include VAT, and the payment stages. Takes a few minutes.
Invite the other side
Send one link by email. They join the same live contract — no software to buy, and invited parties pay nothing.
Agree every change as you go
Variations, payments and sign-off are approved by both sides, and the running total updates the moment they are.
What's inside
Everything the job needs, nothing it doesn't
Simple enough for anyone — a builder on site or a homeowner at the kitchen table.
Payment stages, agreed up front
Split the job into stages both sides sign off on, so everyone knows what's due, when, and for what.
Variations both sides approve
Either side raises a change with a price. Nothing affects the total until both have agreed it in writing.
Digital signatures & audit trail
Contracts, variations and final sign-off are signed and locked, with a timestamped record behind every action.
Snagging with photos
Log defects with a photo and location near the end of the job, and tick them off as they're put right.
Documents with version history
Drawings, quotes and certificates in one library — always the latest version, with the old ones still there.
Messages with read receipts
Project conversations kept beside the contract, so nothing important gets lost in a text thread.
Payment reminders
Automatic email nudges before a stage payment falls due, with SMS if you'd rather be reminded that way.
Built-in assistant
Ask plain-English questions about your project and the terms you've agreed, without wading through paperwork.

Questions
The things people ask us first
Is this legally binding?+
You and the other party agree the terms, and every signature, variation and approval is timestamped and locked, giving you strong written evidence of what was agreed. OurContract is not a substitute for legal advice — for high-value or unusual work, have a qualified legal professional review your terms.
What if I've been invited by the other side?+
Then it's free. Whoever sets the project up covers it; the party they invite gets full access to the contract, payments, variations, documents and messages at no cost.
Can I cancel at any time?+
Yes. The builder subscription is monthly with no lock-in, and you can cancel from your billing settings. Projects you've already paid for stay readable so you keep your record.
What happens to my documents and record?+
Everything stays in the project — signed contracts, approved variations, photos, versioned documents and the full activity trail — so both sides keep an identical copy of what happened.
Do I need to be good with technology?+
No. If you can use email you can use OurContract. Most builders set a project up on their phone on site, and homeowners usually join from a link in one tap.
